During this workshop, facilitator and experienced filmmaker, Nathan Shooter, will guide you through the equipment you need to maximise the quality of your smartphone video. Please note – due to the short length of the workshop, the session will be mainly theory based and will provide you with the information you need to shoot using your smartphone. Topics to be covered include:

  1. Audio
  2. Lighting
  3. Shot composition

The workshop is free for Dubbo Filmmakers full/financial members or $25 (plus processing fee) for non-members.

About the facilitator – Nathan Shooter

Dubbo Filmmakers’ workshop – video editing with Premiere Pro

Where: Music Room, Community Arts Rooms, WPCC, Cnr Wingewarra and Gipps Street, Dubbo
Cost:
FREE for current Dubbo Filmmakers financial members
$25 for everyone else
Prerequisites:
No previous experience with Premiere Pro required. You do need to be a confident computer user with an understanding of files and folders.

This workshop is designed for people with little or no experience using Premiere Pro, the industry standard video editing software. We will cover:

  • Organising your files, understanding relative file paths
  • Creating and saving a new project
  • The project screen
  • Importing media
  • Adding and managing media on your time line
  • Synching audio
  • Trimming/cutting files
  • Increasing volume and basic noise reduction
  • Simple audio and video transitions
  • Adding simple text/titles
  • Exporting your finished projects

If you would like to work along, you will need to bring your own laptop with Premiere Pro installed. There is a 7-day trial available, you will need to determine the suitability of your computer for Premiere Pro.

If you do not have your own computer with Premiere Pro installed, you will have limited opportunities to practice with a shared computer. Sample files will be provided – please bring a USB flash drive to have the files copied on to.
